In November 2016, authorities were called to the Calico Rock school campus to remove a naked man with a knife after he broke a window at the school and destroyed this classroom. If Calico Rock approves money toward the county's law enforcement budget, the Calico Rock School Board and Izard County Sheriff's Office have agreed to put a police sub-station on the elementary campus.
