Dr. Joel Plaag, choral director and band director at Lyon, is conducting the Philarmonia Orchestra of Bacau, Romania, June 19 as part of the ninth annual International Institute for Conductors, according to a news release.
After submitting a resume and video of his orchestral conducting, he was accepted into the institute. He is the only conductor from Arkansas, and one of only a handful from the United States. Other conductors at the institute are from Canada, Australia, Singapore and Romania.
