August 8, 2006 An argument over a reclining chair that erupted into a knife fight sent a man to the hospital Monday evening, although he says he acted in self defense against three men.

Melbourne businesses burglarized recently

August 8, 2006 MELBOURNE — Several Melbourne businesses were broken in to during a two-day period last week, according to a news release from Sheriff Tate Lawrence.

Bank robbed

August 8, 2006 HARDY — The First Community Bank of Hardy was robbed this morning and a suspect is being sought, according to Sharp County Sheriff Dale Weaver.

Thompson selected as king

August 7, 2006 Living in Batesville all his life, Greg Thompson was named 2006 King White River Friday night during the Miss White River pageant. 

Howells named Miss White River

August 7, 2006 Rachel Howells was crowned the 2007 Miss White River on Saturday night. She will represent the White River valley at the Miss Arkansas Pageant next summer.
