January 1, 2009 Newport girl dies in crash An early morning accident on Highway 69 has claimed the life of a Newport teen, according to Arkansas State Police Trooper Robby Stewart. Brandi M. White, 16, of Newport was eastbound on Highway 69 near Newport around 1:15 this morning when her 1997 Pontiac Grand Am ran off the south shoulder of the highway and struck several trees, at which time she was ejected from the car, according to Stewart.
