June 5, 2009 “Big bait for big fish” is more than wishful thinking. One of my friends uses hand-sized bluegills for flatheads in the Mississippi River. The best big-trout fisherman I know catches a dozen or more brown trout from eight to 15 pounds every winter, and his favorite lure is a seven-inch, rainbow-colored Redfin.

Blanchard Springs sets programs

June 5, 2009 MOUNTAIN VIEW — Blanchard Springs Caverns offers summer interpretive activities at the Blanchard Springs Recreation Area, according to a news release. Activities often include outdoor amphitheater programs presented on Wednesdays and Fridays, day and/or night programs on Thursdays, and guided walks on Saturdays. June 5, 2009 Melbourne — The Ozarka College Adult Education Department awarded General Education Development (GED) diplomas during the 2008-09 academic year to 159 students. These students also had the option to participate in the Ozarka College Commencement Ceremony held on May 14.

June 5, 2009 STRAWBERRY — Strawberry Fire Department’s eighth annual Fireworks Display will be held June 27 at Hillcrest School Ball Field in Strawberry.Live entertainment and games for children will be provided. Concessions will be available.All proceeds will go to the fire department.Attending the event in the past have been people from Tuckerman, Cave City and other surrounding areas.

June 5, 2009 RUSSELLVILLE — Arkansas Tech University has announced its Dean’s List for undergraduate students on the main campus in Russellville for the spring 2009 semester.A student must achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher and complete at least 12 semester hours to be named to the Dean’s List.
