December 8, 2008 LOS ANGELES (AP) - A program to exchange guns for gifts brought in a record number of weapons this year as residents hit hard by the economy look under the bed and in closets to find items to trade for groceries.

Judge to review records order

December 8, 2008 LITTLE ROCK (AP) - A Little Rock District Court judge said today he will review and revise a gag order he made involving the suspect in the slaying of a television anchorwoman. Judge Lee Munson said he will change an order sealing jail records for Curtis Lavelle Vance, 28, accused in the death of KATV anchorwoman Anne Pressly. Munson issued an order last week sealing records that included Vance's roster entry at the Pulaski County jail, as well as logs of who visited him.

About 200 39th Infantry Brigade troops come home

December 8, 2008 HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - A contingent of about 200 soldiers with the Arkansas National Guard's 39th Infantry Brigade returned Sunday to the United States, part of group expected to swell to 2,000 through the week.

December 8, 2008 Independence County authorities are investigating the theft of a U-Haul car-towing dolly from 2100 Harrison St. Van Jackson, who operates U-Haul Moving Services, said the car hauler turned up missing Nov. 17, just one day after a man had called the business inquiring about a dolly.

Bond set in forgery, firearms charges

December 8, 2008 Investigation of a check stolen from a Sidney Street business run by Maria Chavez of Batesville has resulted in a felony forgery warrant being issued for Rosa I. Lopez, 27, of 9 Dogwood Lane, Batesville.
