OCHO RIOS, Jamaica — Veronica Marie Croom and Billy Joe Arie Jr. were united in marriage June 28 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
The bride is the daughter of Greg and Denise Croom of Cave City. She is the granddaughter of Jerry and Janice Doyle of Batesville and Lou Ella Croom of Cave City and the late Preston Croom.
She is a graduate of Cave City High School and Lyon College, where she received a degree in biology. She is employed as a laboratory technician at Life Plus. -
Garner, Thomas wed
NEGRIL, Jamaica — Beverly Garner and Danny Lee Thomas were united in marriage in a double-ring ceremony June 19 in Negril, Jamaica.
The bride is the daughter of Sonny and Helen Garner of Magness. The groom’s parents are Robert and Melda Thomas of Southside.
The ceremony took place at sunset in a white gazebo overlooking the ocean.
The bride wore a strapless fitted and flared silk and satin diamond white gown with asymmetric beading at the waist in a vertical pattern with a demi-length chapel train. She carried a bouquet of Calla lilies. -
Couple celebrates 50th
Jerry and Janet Batterton of Batesville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday.
Janet Kapp and Jerry Batterton were married July 23, 1960, at Olivett Baptist Church in Wichita, Kan.
They have three children, Steve Craig and his wife, Julie, of Summersville, Mo., and Wade Williams and his wife, Jennifer, and Brian Mitchum and his wife, Jamie, all of Batesville. Grandchildren are Lynette and Derrick Cooper, Zachary Craig, Cassidy Craig and John Craig, all of Summersville, Mo., and Jake Williams and Ray Jones, both of Batesville. -
Ketz, Nolan united in marriage
ROGERS — Ashley Elizabeth Ketz and Wesley Aaron Nolan were united in marriage on June 12 at Chapel on the Creeks in Rogers.
The Rev. Robert Hamilton officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley John Ketz Jr. of Batesville. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Michael Nolan of Maumelle.
The chapel doors were adorned with lime green floral wreaths. Glass cylinders with ivory pillar candles surrounded by green hydrangeas lined the center aisle. The altar featured three iron candelabras with pillar candles. -
Curtises celebrate 55th anniversary
CAVE CITY — Johnny and Louise Curtis of Cave City celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Saturday with their family.
Louise Mahan and Johnny Curtis were married July 17, 1955, at the home of the bride’s parents, located east of Cave City. B.F. Butler officiated. -
Walter, Latus are united in marriage
Sarah Walter and Robert Latus were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony May 22 at First Baptist Church.
Dr. Gary Buckner and the Rev. Les Farley officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Col. George R. Walter Jr. and Kathryn Walter, both of Batesville. The groom’s parents are George Latus and Linda Latus, both of Sulphur Rock.
Candlelit bronze columns and candelabras decorated the sanctuary. Flowing arrangements of roses, stargazer lilies, Calla lilies, spider mums, tulips and gladiolus festooned the altar. Magnolias were draped in the stained glass windows. -

CAVE CITY — Katie Howell and Nicholas Lockhart were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony June 5 in the backyard garden of the bride’s grandparents, Wayne and Vivian Howell of Cave City.
Bobby Walker officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Danny and Debbie Howell of Cave City. The groom’s parents are Steve and Sandy Lockhart of Odessa, Mo.
Maid of honor was Candice Thorne of Batesville. Best man was Michael Lockhart of Odessa.
A reception followed at Eastside Southern Baptist Church in Cave City. -
Evanses to celebrate golden anniversary
SNOWBALL — Melvin and Jeanette Evans of Snowball will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a drop-in reception from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Ramada Inn in Batesville.
Jeanette Collins and Melvin Evans were married July 15, 1960, at Free Will Baptist Church in Leslie with Chester Roten officiating.
They have three children, Phyllis Lavigne and Cindy Mundy, both of Batesville, and Kenny Evans of Snowball.
They are both retired, Mr. Evans having been an auctioneer.
The reception will be hosted by their children. -
Batson, Thomason wed in Destin, Fla.
Ashlen Batson and Dustin Thomason were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony May 17 in Destin, Fla.
The Rev. Ken Mince officiated.
The bride is a daughter of David and Lynn Batson of Batesville. The groom’s parents are Bob Thomason and Donna Boyd, both of Magnolia.
The wedding was held at a private beach on the Emerald Coast at Henderson State Park in Destin. The bride and groom exchanged vows at sunset under a white trellis gazebo set up close to the water. -
Bullards to celebrate golden anniversary
BRADFORD — Bill and Margie Bullard of Bradford will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at 2 p.m. Saturday at Olyphant Church of Christ fellowship hall.
Margie Medlock and Bill Bullard were married July 6, 1960.
They have three children, Bill Bullard and his wife, Diane, of Oil Trough, Becky Beasley and her husband, Chuck, of Southside and Scott Bullard of Bradford; grandchildren, Will and Bryson Bullard, Seth and Cody Beasley, Amanda and John Bullard and Justin Francis; and two great-grandchildren, Payne Bullard and Keylee Bullard. -

Matlocks celebrate golden anniversary
CAVE CITY — Vaughn Dean and Mary Katherine “Mert” Wooldridge Matlock of Cave City recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
They were married June 3, 1960, in Cave City.
Mrs. Matlock is retired, and Mr. Matlock is semi-retired, working part time for Bad Boy Mowers in Batesville.
They have two daughters, Angie Womack and her husband, Reid, and Jody Hawkins and her husband, Richie, all of Cave City; and two grandsons, Corey Womack of Cave City and Dane Womack and his wife, Jill, of Plummerville.
