Taylors to celebrate golden anniversary

September 15, 2010 Tommy and Ollie Taylor of Batesville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Family Life Center of Desha First Baptist Church.Ollie Igou and Tommy Taylor were married Sept. 18, 1960, at Barton Baptist Church in Barton with the Rev. Kenneth Caery officiating.Mr. Taylor is retired from the Entergy power plant at Newark. Mrs. Taylor is a homemaker. They are active members of Desha First Baptist Church.

Ackermans celebrate 25th

September 10, 2010 Bob and Verneal Ackerman will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary Monday.Verneal Anderson and Bob Ackerman were married Sept. 13, 1985.Mr. Ackerman is retired from the U.S. Navy.They have five children, Gary Anderson and his wife, Pam, and Sandra Anderson Miller and her husband, Mark, all of Batesville, Robert Ackerman and his wife, Heather, and Mike Ackerman, all of Louisville, Ky., and Brian Ackerman of Corydon, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

Handfords will celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

September 8, 2010 Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Handford will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday with a reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall. The event will be hosted by their children.Charles Carroll Handford, a native of Batesville, and Mildred Roe Stone of Calico Rock were married Sept. 10, 1960 in Newport. They have lived in Batesville their entire married life. Mr. Handford is retired from the Batesville Daily Guard. Mrs. Handford was a longtime librarian for the Batesville School District and the White River Regional Library.

Mero, Rudick are wed

September 8, 2010 MAMMOTH SPRING — Annette Mero and Larry Rudick were united in marriage Aug. 3 at Mammoth Spring State Park.Mayor Jean Pace officiated. The wedding was performed in front of the waterfall at the state park.The bride is the daughter of Irene Frakes of Mammoth Spring. The groom is the son of Gene Rudick of Batesville.Given in marriage by Timothy Mero, the bride wore a green sundress with yellow roses. Bridesmaid was Terra Dawn Mero-Boyles of Mammoth Spring. She wore summer attire.Best man was Timothy Mero of Mammoth Spring.

Varners celebrate 25 years

September 3, 2010 Wally and Debbie Varner of Batesville celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Monday.A surprise reception was held in their honor Sunday at Peaceful Harbor Church. The event was sponsored by the congregation.Debbie Bynum and Wally Varner were married Aug. 30, 1985, by the Rev. Vernon Bradshaw.They have two children, Christian Varner and Hannah Varner, both of Batesville.They are pastors of Peaceful Harbor Pentecostal Church of God on Central Avenue in Batesville.

Green, Clouse are now married

September 1, 2010 CHARLOTTE — Joleena Jeane Green and Johnathan David Clouse were united in marriage July 19 in a private ceremony in Charlotte.The bride is the daughter of Roger and Nina Starnes of Pleasant Grove and the granddaughter of Viola Starnes of Mountain View and the late Alvin Starnes.The groom is the son of Carol Clouse and Michael and Patsy Clouse, all of Batesville, and the grandson of Ray and Melba Clouse of Batesville.The couple resides in Batesville with their three children, Chasyl, Hunter and Aliyah.

Critz, Greear unite in marriage

August 31, 2010 Miranda Moseley Critz became the bride of Fred Bonham Greear III on Aug. 14 in Little Rock. The wedding and reception took place at Trapnall Hall. Chaplain Dianne Swaim officiated.The bride is the daughter of Mary Ann and Jay Critz of Little Rock. She is the granddaughter of Sara and Guy Moseley of Batesville and the late Mariana Ross Critz and the late Julian P. Critz, both of Rogers. The bridegroom’s parents are Ann and Dr. Fred Greear Jr. of Bristol, Va.

Hughes, Cooley unite in marriage

August 30, 2010 DESHA — Jessica Hughes and Tommy Cooley were united in marriage Aug. 14 at Desha United Methodist Church with James Wheeler officiating.The church was decorated with ferns adorned with black and ice blue bows atop cathedral pedestals. Photographs of the bride and groom decorated the foyer of the church along with a satin guest book and an autograph picture frame, a gift to the bride from her mother. The unity table was overlaid with a white lace cloth.

August 27, 2010 Amanda Williams and Bryan Moore were united in marriage July 10 in an outdoor wedding at the home of Hughes and Mary Tugwell in Batesville.Edward Pretty Jr., grandfather of the bride, officiated.The bride is the daughter of Joe and Sandy Williams of Batesville. The groom’s parents are Mike and Shawn Blue of Batesville.The aisle was lined with hot pink rose petals and white chairs with a backdrop of white archways trimmed in hot pink and oversized ferns.Traditional wedding songs were played.

Harmons to celebrate golden anniversary

August 27, 2010 DESHA — Jerry and Marilyn Harmon of Desha will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 5 at Desha United Methodist Church.Marilyn Casebier and Jerry Harmon were married Sept. 3, 1960, at Imboden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Othea Strayhorn officiating.Mr. Harmon worked for many years in purchasing and retired from Airgas in Batesville, where he did safety and repair work. Mrs. Harmon retired from Farm Bureau in Batesville, where she did clerical work.
