Guard ends streaming at football games

It’s football time again and the Batesville Daily Guard is excited about this year’s Batesville Pioneers.

For the past several years the Guard has been doing live coverage of these events. That will no longer continue. It’s something we have enjoyed doing and has been well-received in and out of the community, especially for those who were unable to attend in person. It is also something the Guard was able to provide free of charge with the aid of area sponsors who helped make it possible.

It hasn’t been without some obstacles from the superintendent, however. With the support of the school board, the school decided to pay an outside agency to do what the local newspaper was providing for free.

After several meetings it was decided to do away with any part of the live-stream events, even those the Guard has been asked to do, such as last-minute graduation coverage. It does not mean we will not continue to support our beloved Pioneers and they will continue to get the same great coverage from our sports department as they always have in the Batesville Daily Guard.
