Breaking News: Police investigate bank robbery
CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Authorities in Sharp County are searching for a woman they believe robbed First National Banking Company in Cherokee Village.
Rick Crook, who is chief of police in Cherokee Village, said the bank was robbed earlier today and an undisclosed amount of money was taken.
Crook said the clerk at FNBC believed the person to be female, wearing a ski mask and hoodie.
He said authorities have talked to a woman who is a person of interest in the case.
Crook said when the information was released about who they wanted to question, the woman turned herself in to the Hardy Police Department.
In addition to the clerk, other employees were also at work at the Cherokee branch office. He said no one has indicated whether a weapon was used but the woman indicated she had a firearm.
The investigation is continuing.
