  • Suspicious truck near storage units leads to arrest

    Mindful of recent thefts from local rental storage units, Deputy Nathan Stephens was more than a little curious Thursday night when he saw a pickup truck backed up to the Gleghorn rental units on Highway 25 in Desha.

    U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor will travel in his Mobile Office to meet with Arkansans and hear about issues affecting the country, state and their local communities, according to a news release.
    Pryor’s staff will also be on hand to assist individuals who may be having problems with the Veterans Administration, Medicare, Social Security and other services involving the federal government.
    He is scheduled to be at the Independence County Courthouse from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday. This will be his fourth stop of the day, following Cabot, Searcy and Newport.

    Nick Arnold  has joined Ascent Children’s Health Services, locally known as Child & Youth Pediatric Day Clinic, as clinic director, according to a news release.
    Arnold, who was named to the position Jan. 16, graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in business management and is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
    He previously worked in Mountain Home as the admissions coordinator for the Child & Youth Pediatric Day Clinic.
