    His word was his bond.
    That’s what family and friends said about Donnie Bryant of Batesville, who died Saturday at 89.
    Son Thomas “Tommy” Bryant said those words were his father’s favorite statement, and Tommy, at a young age, learned exactly what the elder Bryant meant by them the day Tommy made a mistake on an order at the Bryant family’s lumber yard.

  • Dedication set

    The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville will host a dedication and open house for its new Nursing and Allied Health building on Oct. 28. A time will be announced at a later date.

  • Branscums celebrate 50th anniversary

    Logan and Betty Branscum celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary over the weekend with family and friends.
    Betty Allen and Logan Branscum were married July 21, 1961, in an Allen Chapel home. The Rev. H.A. Lewis officiated.
    Mr. Branscum worked at National Automotive Parts Association as a machinist for more than 30 years. Mrs. Branscum retired from Lyon College after 25 years of service.
