    NORFOLK, Va. — Navy Seaman Recruit Andrew A. McLoy, son of Mary E. Moore of Floral and Anthony S. McLoy of Jonesboro, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
    During the eight-week program, McLoy completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

    PLEASANT PLAINS — Emily Ann Foster, 13-year-old daughter of David and Lisa Foster of Pleasant Plains, was recently crowned Arkansas State Seasonal Splendor Supreme Queen in a beauty pageant in Jacksonville.
    Foster competed against contestants from across the state in pageant attire, outfit of choice, costume of choice and talent.
    She was also awarded the Supreme Title in the talent category for her tap routine.

    The 2010 4-H Awards & Recognition Banquet was held Sept. 16 at the Batesville High School cafeteria.
    A catfish and chicken buffet dinner was served for the banquet before the awards ceremony with 150 attending. Awards were presented to the 4-H’ers on their project work for 2010. Club and leader awards were also given.
