    MURFREESBORO — Arkansans still have months of winter weather ahead and should know the ropes to dealing with extreme cold in case of emergencies, said Robbie McKinnon, Pike County Extension agent for the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture.
    “Temperatures in the teens or single digits are uncomfortable,” she said. “But if you’re stranded outside, or without power inside, those low temperatures can be deadly.”

    Alfred and Mattie Rogers celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Jan. 13.
    Mattie Mae Layne of the Simstown community and Alfred Edwin Rogers of the Corinth community were united in marriage Jan. 13, 1940, by the Rev. Luther Love, Methodist pastor at Ash Flat and Corinth.
    Mr. Rogers’ parents were Dixie and Sarah Ann Estes Rogers. Mrs. Rogers’ parents were Hubert and Martha Hoaney Layne.
