  • Eagle Mountain fall fest is Friday

    Eagle Mountain Magnet will have its annual fall festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the school. 
    Activities will include a barbecue dinner, silent auction, games, raffles, book walk, cakewalk as well as a bounce house and “bungee run,” Eagle Mountain technology aide Jacqui McSpadden said.
    Dine-in and drive-through dinner tickets can be purchased for $6 at the door.

  • Hillcrest EAST hosts ‘night out’

    STRAWBERRY — Hillcrest High School students and staff will host the second annual “EAST Night Out” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the high school’s main building at Strawberry.
    Visitors will get a look at what the Environmental and Spatial Technologies program is about and students will demonstrate some of their community work and services provided and facilitated by their classroom, a news release states. 
    The event is open to the public and designed to inform the community about the program’s accomplishments.

  • Alumni to kick off homecoming

    SOUTHSIDE — In honor of this year’s homecoming, Southside High School will host an alumni celebration Oct. 9 beginning with a cookout from 5 to 7 p.m. at the high school cafeteria.
    Admission will be $3.
    At 5:30 there will be a tour given of the new elementary building followed by a homecoming coronation at 6:15 and football kickoff at 7. Alumni who come to the gate by the field house will receive free admission to the football game, in which all alumni will be recognized at half-time, a news release states.

    CHARLOTTE — Registration forms are now being accepted for the Fall Harvest Pageant, which will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 9 on the campus of Cord-Charlotte Elementary School.

    A “last hurrah” for the Batesville High School Class of 1949 is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, according to a news release.
    “Mayor Rick Elumbaugh will welcome the class at the Friday evening registration,” it states. That registration will begin at 5 p.m. in the West Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
    An “open house” for class members, friends and BHS graduates from other years will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in the George Rider Room of First Community Bank.
