  • Drug-related arrests made following car chase

    A Batesville woman was arrested and placed under an investigative hold early Monday morning after she was allegedly found to be in possession of illegal drugs and using a false name.
    Independence County Deputy Brian Luetschwager said he stopped an extended-cab pickup on Wilson Street around 1 a.m. after the truck had been reported in some type of chase with a car.

  • Police make weekend driving arrests

    A Piggott woman was arrested Friday afternoon on traffic- and alcohol-related charges after she reportedly left the scene of an accident, according to Independence County Deputy Michael Darr.
    On his way to a “leaving the scene” wreck at Sidney and Harrison streets around 6 p.m., Darr said he was informed by Prosecuting Attorney Don McSpadden that the suspect vehicle, a blue four-door car, had just hit a power pole at the intersection of St. Louis and Harrison streets in Batesville.

    Dennis and Cheryl Schnebelen of Vilonia have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Sarah Schnebelen, to Brandon Curtis, son of Kenny and Regina Curtis of Cave City.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Gertrude Schnebelen of Conway and Beverly Cole of Hot Springs.
    She received a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. She is employed as a neonatal intensive care nurse.
