Cody Rutledge Wilson was inducted as president of the University of Central Arkansas Student Government Association in a ceremony in Conway in May.
Wilson graduated in 2006 from Cabot High School with highest honors and has been active in the UCA student government since entering the university in his freshman year. Prior to being elected president, Wilson was a freshman class senator, president of the sophomore class and executive vice president during his junior year.
Wood-Lawn Inc. in Batesville sponsored a series of events May 10-16 in observance of Nursing Home Week.
The theme of the week was “Nurturing a Love That Lasts” and was designed to enrich the relationships and contacts between residents, youth, community members, families and staff, according to a news release.
Some of the week’s special events included a Mother’s Day celebration, Jam Boys’ Gospel Music Band, wild hair day, birthday bash, pajama day, wheelchair races, balloon volleyball, basketball toss and ring toss.
Sixty-four students have been named to the spring 2009 Lyon College Dean’s List. To be on the Dean’s List, a student must maintain a 3.75 grade point average or higher while taking a minimum of 12 hours a semester.

Melbourne — Ozarka College has announced the names of students who graduated with a technical certificate or certificate of proficiency.
Students completing their studies with an overall grade point average of 3.75 or higher in a certificate or associate degree program are designated as graduating magna cum laude. Students with a GPA of 3.50 to 3.74 graduated cum laude.
HORSESHOE BEND — Nancy Rae Blank, 68, of Horseshoe Bend died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in a Calico Rock hospital.
Born Oct. 24, 1940, at Marquette, Mich., she was the daughter of Marshall and Margaret LaPoint Burdo. She was a homemaker and enjoyed making crafts. She was of the Catholic faith.
MAGNESS — Kayla Rose Smart, 19, of Magness died Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Willis Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Rick Womack officiating. Burial will be in Mac’s Chapel Cemetery in Sulphur Rock.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Smart, Eric Dawson, Robert Adams, Damen Cheshier, Dustin Cheshier and Justin Gardner.
Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Smart, Michael Blake, Cat Sullins, William Blake, T.J. Smart, Daniel McElroy and Nick Nicholson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight.
Chuck and Lisa Smith and Natalie of Mountain View have announced the birth of a son and brother at White River Medical Center on May 22, 2009. The baby weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and has been named Charles Isaac Smith.
Grandparents of the child are Larry and Vicki Smith of Mountain View and Michael and Barbara Holeman of Searcy.
Debbie Finley and Bobby and Stephanie Finley, all of Batesville, have announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Jodi Finley, to Eric Haertling, son of Sherry Haertling of Piggott and Kenneth Haertling of Osage Beach, Mo.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Paul and Frances Slisher and Bobby and Gloria Galloway, all of Batesville, and Mona Finley of Velvet Ridge and the late Bob Finley. She is the great-granddaughter of Georgia Davis and Goldie Swaim, both of Batesville.
NEWPORT — The Arkansas Arts Center’s Artmobile, a mobile gallery, will be at Arkansas State University-Newport at the Center for the Arts June 2-4.
The Artmobile will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that Wednesday and Thursday and until 6:30 p.m. that Tuesday. Admission is free.
Church plans revival
Peaceful Harbor Pentecostal Church of God will host a revival Friday through Sunday.
Services will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. The evangelist will be the Rev. Edwina Kidd of northwest Arkansas, a national and international evangelist with the Pentecostal Church of God.
