• Slaughters mark 60th anniversary

    Dr. Bob “Papa Doc” and Mary “Gaggie” Slaughter of Batesville are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today.
    Mary Jordan and Bob Slaughter were married March 9, 1951, in Sheridan with the Rev. Bryan Stevens officiating.
    Dr. Slaughter retired after having been a family doctor in Batesville since 1958. Mrs. Slaughter has been a housewife for 60 years.

    Bobby and Lavone Hagar of Batesville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the home economics building on Walnut Street (on the former Grubbs School campus) in Grubbs.
    Ira L. Limbert and Bobby D. Hagar were married Feb. 25, 1961, in Newport with J.G. Rutledge officiating.
    They have a son, Shawn Hagar and his wife, Belynda, of Batesville.
    Mr. Hagar retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of active duty service. Mrs. Hagar is a homemaker.
