Wayne and Kay Tidwell of Batesville have announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Emily Layne Tidwell, to Kevin Anthony Smith, son of Stuart and Carol Smith of Batesville.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Virginia Layne of Batesville.
She is a student at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Mary Jo Lacefield of St. Charles, Mo.
He is a 2011 graduate of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center with a master’s in occupational therapy.
PLEASANT PLAINS — Larry and Valerie Dunn of Pleasant Plains and Robert and Fay Grantz of Southside have announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Ashley Nichole Grantz, to Jeremy Alan Ball, son of Larry and Sherry Ball of Floral.
The bride-elect will graduate from the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville in December with a registered nurse degree. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences beginning in spring 2012.
Junior and Stella Miller recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Stella Kimmer and Junior Miller were married July 16, 1971, at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Bethesda. The Rev. P.F. Meador officiated.
Mr. Miller is a retired coach and schoolteacher. Mrs. Miller is retired from White-Rodgers.
They have two children, Mark Miller and his wife, Sandra, and Melissa Taylor and her husband, Keith; and three grandsons, Wesley Miller, Ethan Taylor and Eli Taylor.
A trip to Eureka Springs is planned in the fall.

MELBOURNE — Hannah Miller and Clayton McWilliams were united in marriage May 27 in a private ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of David and Janett Miller of Melbourne. She is a 2006 graduate of Melbourne High School, a 2008 graduate of Arkansas State University and a 2010 graduate of the University of Arkansas William H. Bowen School of Law. She recently opened a law office in Melbourne.

SULPHUR ROCK — Darrel and Donna Crabtree will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a drop-in reception from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at City Hall in Sulphur Rock.
Donna Smart and Darrel Crabtree were married July 18, 1961, at the Pentecostal Church in Sulphur Rock.
Mr. Crabtree attended Cave City School. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He is retired from White-Rodgers and is employed by the City of Sulphur Rock.
Mrs. Crabtree is a graduate of Sulphur Rock High School. She is employed by Walmart.
