    PLEASANT PLAINS — Ron and Phyllis McCance of Pleasant Plains have announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Erin McCance, to Nathan Rogers, son of Garold and Jackie Rogers of Bee Branch.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Juanita Harris and the late Arthur Harris of Pleasant Plains, the late Travis McCance of Cushman and the late Barbara McCance of Berryville.
    She is a 2005 graduate of Midland High School in Pleasant Plains and a 2011 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a master of science in speech-language pathology.

    DESHA — Carlton and Joyce Measels of Desha will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday with a private reception.
    Joyce Floyd and Carlton Measels were married Dec. 23, 1961, at the home of the groom’s parents in Carlisle. The Rev. I.D. Riddick officiated. Best man was Jim Orlicek, and maid of honor was Patricia Orlicek.
    Mr. Measels is retired from White-Rodgers/Emerson Electric and enjoys working on the computer. Mrs. Measels was employed at Tommy’s Kingburger and enjoys taking care of a small garden and their pets. Both are active ham radio operators.
