Ryan Mallett’s recovery will take 3 to 4 months

February 18, 2010 FAYETTEVILLE (AP) — Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett is expected to miss spring practice after sustaining a broken bone in his left foot.Officials said Mallett’s injury occurred during conditioning drills Wednesday morning. He is expected to fully recover in three to four months.Mallett completed 225 of 403 passes for 3,624 yards and 30 touchdowns during the 2009 season, when the Razorbacks went 8-5. He led the Southeastern Conference in total offense (276.5) and passing yards per game (278.8).

Powell nets 26 as Hogs cruise

February 18, 2010 FAYETTEVILLE (AP) — Arkansas responded to its only loss in the last 25 days by getting back into the win column.Freshman Marshawn Powell scored 16 of his game-high 26 points in the first half as the Razorbacks defeated South Carolina 92-79 on Wednesday night. Courtney Fortson added 19 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.Fortson decided before the game to issue a challenge to Powell, who had scored only 19 points over Arkansas’ last two games.“Courtney told me I was due for a 20-point game,” Powell said. “He said it a couple times.

Bassmasters to finalize schedule

February 17, 2010 The Batesville Bassmasters will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the George Rider Room of First Community Bank to finalize the 2010 tournament schedule, secretary Colin Patterson said.“We want everybody to be there that can be there,” Patterson said.Dues of $35, the same as last year, will also be accepted at the meeting.Rules will remain the same as in 2009. According to club bylaws, any rules changes have to be approved the year prior to the season they take effect, and no one suggested any changes last year, Patterson said.
