Lorene Sullivan – Paid Obituary
Lorene Wright Doyle Sullivan of Strawberry passed away in her sleep Saturday January 28, 2012, at the Newport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newport, Arkansas, at the age of 94 years, 11 months, and 28 days; just two days shy of her 95th birthday.

Steven Sevier and Hallie Moser of Batesville have announced the birth of a son at White River Medical Center on Jan. 24, 2012. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 4.9 ounces and has been named Lawson Joe Sevier.
Grandparents of the child are Eddie and Deana Mayfield and Page Sevier and the late Larry Sevier.
Great-grandparents are Donna Apple and Earl Davis. -

Rex and Melissa Blue, Hope, Logan and Tiffany of Batesville have announced the birth of a daughter and sister at White River Medical Center on Jan. 25, 2012. The baby weighed 5 pounds, 8.6 ounces and has been named Jayden Rihanna Blue.
Grandmother of the child is Glenda Blue.
Great-grandmother is Ann Barress. -

Jeffrey Sweet and Melanie Kurasz of Batesville have announced the birth of a daughter at White River Medical Center on Jan. 24, 2012. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and has been named Eva Tiffany Sweet.
Grandparents of the child are Mike and Chris Kurasz of Pasco, Fla., Deanna Sweet of Price, Utah, and Thomas Sweet of Ohio.

Pageant deadline is Friday
CALICO ROCK — Calico Rock High School Student Council will host the White River Valentine Pageant Feb. 12 at Calico Rock School auditorium on the elementary campus.
Check-in time for contestants is 1 p.m. with the pageant starting at 2.
Divisions include: Baby Mister, 0-18 months; Tiny Mister, 19 months-3 years; Baby Miss, 0-18 months; Tiny Miss, 19 months-2 years; Little Miss, 3-5 years; Petite Miss, 6-9 years; Young Miss, 10-12 years; Junior Miss, 13-15 years; and Miss, 16-19 years. -

Tommy Norris
POUGHKEEPSIE — Tommy Norris, 65, of Poughkeepsie died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in a Little Rock hospital.
Born Aug. 8, 1946, at Williford, he was the son of Charlie Alexander and Gertrude Mosley Norris. He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for the Sharp County Road Department. He was a member of Little Springs Missionary Baptist Church at Poughkeepsie. -
Buddy Smart
SPRING TOWN, Texas — Charles Edward “Buddy” Smart, 75, formerly of Batesville, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in Spring Town, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Kelley Smart; a son, Charles Glenn Smartt of Fort Worth; three daughters, Rhonda Morgan and Lavonda McManamy, both of Fort Worth, Texas, and Kelley Luper of Houston; two brothers; three sisters; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Bessie Smartt; two brothers; and four sisters. -
Ruby Palmer
Ruby Faye Palmer, 84, of Batesville died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in a Cave City nursing home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cave Creek Church of God with Bobby Majors and Eric Downs officiating. Burial will be in Cave Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Allen Hutchison, Jimmy Hutchison, Tim Palmer, Michael Palmer, Jimmy Reynolds, Michael Reynolds and David McIntosh.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville.

Phillip Pugh
Earnest Phillip Pugh, 58, of Batesville died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in Batesville.
Born June 12, 1953, in Batesville, he was the son of Earnest Huebert Pugh and Marilyn Moody Pugh. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an over-the-road truck driver. He enjoyed working on hot rods, carpenter work and spending time with his grandchildren. -
Myrtle Nelson
Myrtle Nelson, 82, of Batesville died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in a Batesville nursing home.
Born Sept. 23, 1929, in Cushman, she was the daughter of Gilbert and Edna Clouse Gunther. She worked for Barnett Brothers Department Store. She enjoyed flower gardening and sewing and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.
