• Weather delays Batesville Motor Speedway

    LOCUST GROVE — The running of the third annual Rockhard Powder Coating Front-wheel Drive Special has been moved to Sept. 2 at Batesville Motor Speedway.
    The Rockhard and other BMS points races were postponed due to inclement weather Friday night, according to speedway owner Mooney Starr.

  • McWilliams joins Ozarka

    MELBOURNE — Ozarka College has announced Hannah McWilliams as its new Development/Alumni Relations Officer. 
    She will work as part of the college’s advancement department and is active in all foundation board and Ozarka activities, according to a news release.
    McWilliams began her college career as a concurrent student at Ozarka College where she earned 44 credit hours before graduating from Melbourne High School in 2006.

    Ethel Mae Pratt, 73, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011.
    Born Feb. 4, 1938, she was the daughter of William F. and Gladys Mae Totten Pratt.
    Survivors include a brother, Charles Pratt; a sister, Kay Sutterfield; a granddaughter, Shawna Wilson; and two great-grandchildren, Robin Wilson and Jackson Wilson.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Robin Lynn Pratt; four brothers, Willie Dean Pratt, Elmer Lee Pratt, Eugene Dale Pratt and Ray Pratt; and a sister, Carol Ann Branscum.

  • Body found near Alread – Presumed to be missing man

    Authorities say a body found in Van Buren County over the weekend is that of a missing Batesville man.
    Barry Treadway, 27, of Broadwater Lane has been missing since July 19.
    Skeletal remains were found Saturday, Van Buren County Sheriff Scott Bradley said this morning in a news release. His department secured the area that evening so investigators from his office and the Arkansas State Police could begin work Sunday morning, Bradley said.
