Hughes, Rhoades to exchange vows
SULPHUR ROCK — Donald and Freda Hughes of Sulphur Rock have announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Tonya Renee Hughes, to Billy Wayne Rhoades, son of Johnny and Judy Hays of Warren.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Emma Gene Wiltrout of Charlotte and the late Jimmy Wiltrout and the late Henry and Ethel Hughes of Sulphur Rock.
She is a 2008 Batesville High School graduate and is a student at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. She is employed at J.C. Penney. -
Prices to mark anniversary
Lewis and Zelda Price will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday.
Zelda Davis and Lewis Price were married June 26, 1959, at Idaho Falls, Idaho.
They have three children, Ernest Lewis Price and his wife, Kathy, Lindon and Barry Price and the late Arlene Zelda Price Hanson; two grandchildren, Joshua Price and Emily Craig and her husband, Rudy; and two great-grandchildren, Jamie Craig and Lacey Craig. -
17-pound bass rumor
A story about a 17-pound largemouth bass in Crown Lake at Horseshoe Bend is just a fish tale, said Keith Stephens, spokesman for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
After being asked about it, Stephens took 24 hours to check out the story before confirming it is only a rumor.
What allegedly happened was this: Some Game and Fish personnel, electroshocking fish for a population study on Crown Lake, turned up a largemouth bass that weighed 17 pounds and some-odd ounces. -
