Power slowly being restored: Customer information offices to be opened
LITTLE ROCK – Power is slowly being restored to Arkansas Entergy customers who are without service due to the major ice storm that began Tuesday, Entergy comunications manager Dan Daughtry and director of distibution operations Brady Aldy said about noon today.

Power outage leads to Scots’ demise against ’Hawks
The lights were on, but the power was off at Becknell Gymnasium Thursday night for a TranSouth Athletic Conference contest.
Well, that's partially true. The correct statement would be that the Lyon Scots looked like they were using candles while the Martin Methodist RedHawks were shining spotlights. -
Pipers hesitate, suffer another loss to ranked team
The No. 24 Martin Methodist RedHawks snuck out of Becknell Gymnasium with a 71-62 win, but the outcome was in question late as the Lyon Pipers battled in the TranSouth Athletic Conference contest.
The Pipers hesitated at the most critical times and it caused them to force shots as the shot clock trickled to single digits. -

Cledas Manuel
NEWPORT – Cledas Manuel, 72, of Newport died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, in a Little Rock hospital.
He was previously employed as a farm manager at Emerson-Connor and was employed at McDonald Equipment Company. He retired from Arkansas State University at Newport after 21 years as a diesel mechanics instructor. He was a member of Holden Avenue Church of Christ. -

SULPHUR ROCK – Dovie Anna Lawson, 83, of Sulphur Rock died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, in a Batesville hospital.
Born Feb. 13, 1925, in George Town, she was the daughter of Columbus M. and Clara Jane Fielder Misenheimer. -
Gregory Sutherland
MANDEVILLE, La. – Gregory Brent Sutherland, 37, of Mandeville, La., formerly of Wolf Bayou, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at his home.
Born Nov. 4, 1971, in Batesville, he was the son of Garry and Brenda Babb Sutherland. He graduated from Concord High School in 1990. He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran and was a heavy equipment operator. -
