Suit has been filed here in Independence County Chancery Court by the Midwest Dairy Co. of Illinois against the city of Batesville, Mayor C.F. Cole and City Marshal B.H. Hinkle. The company is seeking legal action to block the city from collecting a $50 fee for bringing beer into the city to retail houses. -

CHEROKEE VILLAGE – Lura M. Langenback, 61, of Cherokee Village died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, in a Batesville hospital.
Arrangements will be announced by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. -
Christopher Shouse
Christopher William Shouse, 39, of Batesville died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, in a Little Rock hospital.
Graveside memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cave Creek Cemetery north of Batesville with the Rev. David Steele officiating. Arrangements are by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service. -
Bill Van Dyk
CHEROKEE VILLAGE – William A. "Bill" Van Dyk, 75, of Cherokee Village died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008.
He was a paratrooper during the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4772 in Cherokee Village. -
Joe Stout
CAVE CITY – Denny Joe Stout, 33, of Cave City died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at his home.
Born May 23, 1975, in Batesville, he was the son of Danny and Edna Stout. He attended Cave City High School and graduated in 1994. He worked for the Arkansas State Highway Department in Batesville. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Mount View Missionary Baptist Church near Cave City. -

John Welch and Megan Bird of Mammoth Spring have announced the birth of a daughter at White River Medical Center on Dec. 23, 2008. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 13.25 ounces and has been named Natalie Hayden Welch.

Samuel and Andrea Vogt of Hardy have announced the birth of a daughter at White River Medical Center on Dec. 18, 2008. The baby weighed 4 pounds, 15.5 ounces and has been named Moriah Lynne Vogt.
Grandparents of the child are Adam and Rebekah Perez and Randall and Sandra Vogt. -
