As Arkansans brace for possible tornados in the months of March and April, the Old Independence Regional Museum is presenting “Tornado Survival Stories” at 2 p.m. Sunday, said curator Twyla Wright.
“A panel of people who experienced the destruction of a tornado will tell their stories,” Wright said.
Bill Coop was the principal of Batesville’s Central Elementary School when a tornado hit on Thursday, April 19, 1973.

One person was killed in the tornadoes that cut a path through Arkansas, ripping off rooftops and downing power lines along the way, authorities say.
Ward Baldridge, 79, was killed in the storm that slammed through Cleburne County Wednesday night. Baldridge lived with his wife Imogene and grandson Blake (age and last name unconfirmed at press time) on Sawmill Road South, Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss said.
